MADE YOU LOOK: DANDYISM AND BLACK MASCULINITY
The Photographers’ Gallery has just entered the last month of their exhibition Made You Look.
This group show explores Dandyism and Black Masculinity through images spanning the 20-21st century in the studio and on location.
The exhibition explores ideas of gender, identity, race and masculinity. The images offer an uncompromisingly camp and seriously assertive look at the aesthetic of Black Dandyism.
You can always rely on the Photographers’ Gallery for an awe inspiring and well curated exhibition. Made You Look is up there with some of the best shows produced at the gallery this year.
WHO TO LOOK OUT FOR –
Hassan Hajjaj’s colourful and dynamic portraits. We love Hassan’s use of textiles and print – total excitement for the eyes!
Malik Sidibe, the late, great studio photographer known as ‘the eye of Bamako. Sidibe’s images are timeless and uber stylish.
